Rosemary essential oil is a colorless to pale yellow volatile liquid. Rosemary is highly beneficial to the respiratory system and can be used for respiratory ailments such as colds and bronchitis.
Its most well-known effect is improving memory, refreshing the mind and sharpening mental clarity, making it ideal for students or those who overuse their brains. It also benefits the liver and gallbladder and helps with detoxification and purification.
It is also suitable for people with weak heart function. A low dosage of 1~2% can lower blood pressure, while a high dosage above 3% may raise blood pressure.
Rosemary is one of the earliest plants used in medicine, and it is also commonly used in cooking and religious rituals. In ancient Greece, ordinary villagers who could not afford incense would burn rosemary instead, naming it "incense bush". During the Egyptian, Greek and Roman eras, people regarded rosemary as a symbol of hope for life and peace in death, and believed it could ward off evil spirits. Therefore, presenting it to a lover symbolizes care and affection. When influenza epidemics broke out in Europe, rosemary was often burned in hospitals for sterilization. Noble ladies also frequently blended rose, lemon balm, rosemary and bergamot to make rejuvenating facial cleansers, as rosemary boasts excellent antiseptic and preservative properties. Highly effective antioxidants and rosemary essential oil can be extracted from rosemary flowers and leaves. Rosemary essential oil is a colorless to pale yellow volatile liquid.
