2-Ethylhexyl nitrate/Isooctyl Nitrate/2-EHN/CAS:27247-96-7
Description:
Biodegradation of 2-ethylhexyl nitrate (2-EHN) by Mycobacterium austroafricanum IFP 2173 has been studied. Biodegradation of 2-EHN was studied in biphasic liquid cultures using an inert non-aqueous phase liquid such as 2,2,4,4,6,8,8-heptamethylnonane as solvent.

Usage
2-Ethylhexyl nitrate (2-EHN) is a major fuel additive, has been used to increase the cetane number of diesel.
The main component of diesel cetane number improver is isooctyl nitrate, which can effectively increase the cetane number of diesel. Diesel cetane number improver provides free radicals during diesel combustion, triggering an oxidation chain reaction centered around the free radicals, greatly reducing the self ignition activation energy of diesel, shortening the ignition delay period of diesel, improving the self ignition performance of diesel during combustion in diesel engines, improving the cold start performance of engines, and reducing combustion noise and pollution emissions of diesel engines.
