Octylin, English name is OCTOCRYLENE, alias: 2-cyano-3,3-diphenyl acrylic acid isooctyl ester, octyl octyl ester. In cosmetics and skin care products, Octalin is mainly used as a chemical sunscreen, with a risk factor of 3. It is safe and can be used at ease. It has no effect on pregnant women generally. Octalin is not acne causing. It belongs to cinnamic acid ultraviolet absorber, and the maximum absorption wavelength of ultraviolet light is 308nm.Octocrylene and other compounds have the common effect of benzene ring and rebel group, which makes them have high molar absorption coefficient in the ultraviolet region, especially for ultraviolet light (UVB) with the wavelength in the range of 280~320nm. Most ultraviolet rays in this band are absorbed by the skin surface. Long term exposure will cause skin redness, swelling, aging, and even skin cancer. It is the ultraviolet band that should be focused on prevention.

It stabilizes avobenzone and makes it effective. Avobenzone is an effective sunscreen against long wave UVA. This ingredient is not easy to be absorbed and is relatively safe for human body, but one of its most fatal shortcomings is to release free radicals in the sun.
