Description:

It is the cross-linked homopolymer of pure vinylpyrrolidone. It is hygroscopic and free-flowing white or off-white powder. It has a slight foul smell. It is insoluble in common solvents such as water, ethanol and ether. So its molecule weight range can’t be measured. However, PVP has ability to form complex with various kinds of substances (such as “Hu” class substance which can lead to the discoloration of a variety of wines and beverages discoloration). Also it is easily to be removed after filtration because of its insolubility.

 Usage

1. Cosmetics industry: PVPK series can be used as dispersant, film-forming agent, thickener, lubricant and adhesive in cosmetics industry, and can be used in hair care products such as hair spray, mousse, hair fixative gel, shampoo, hair fixative and hair dye; Skin care products such as lipstick, sunscreen, moisturizer and other cosmetics such as modifiers, deodorants, toothpaste, etc.
2. Pharmaceutical industry: PVPK30 (pharmaceutical grade) is one of the new excipients for pharmaceutical synthesis, which can be used as a binder for tablets and granules, a solubilizer and stabilizer for injections, a flow aid for capsules, a dispersant for liquid preparations and coloring agents, a stabilizer for enzymes and thermosensitive drugs, a co precipitant for insoluble drugs, a detoxifier and lubricant for eye drops, and a coating film-forming agent. There are already hundreds of drugs that use PVP as an excipient. Pharmaceutical grade PVPK30 has been approved by the National Medical Administration of the People's Republic of China.
3. Other industrial uses: Used as dispersants, film-forming agents, emulsifiers, and other additives in industries such as paints and coatings, plastics, resins, glass fibers, inks, adhesives, detergents, photographic films, tablets, television tubes, production chemicals, adhesive tapes, disinfectants, paper, textile printing and dyeing.
