Usage
Homosalate, also known as protomembranous dispersion ester, is a typical salicylic acid type ultraviolet absorbent. Its chemical name is 3,3,5-trimethylcyclohexyl salicylate, which can absorb UVB295 ～ 31Chemicalbook 5nm ultraviolet light. It has been approved by the US FDA, Europe, Japan and Australia to be used as sunscreen chemicals to protect the skin from UVB radiation damage. It is widely used in sunscreen, toner and other cosmetics and clothing fabrics

Homosalate is a UV UVB sunscreen agent, which belongs to chemical sunscreen agent and can absorb UVB 295-315 bands. However, some studies have shown that Homosalate has a weak effect on hormones and produces toxic metabolites. The amount required shall not exceed 10%.
preparation
Add 10.0g of methyl salicylate and 14.0g of 3,3,5-trimethylcyclohexanol into a 250ml three necked bottle, mix well, add 5.0g of potassium carbonate, heat up to 120-130 ℃, react with Chemicalbook for 10h, and the conversion rate of methyl salicylate monitored by gas chromatography is 85.6%. By vacuum distillation, 12.2g of colorless and transparent fumaric ester was obtained with a yield of 70.8% and a GC purity of more than 99%.
