This product is a white or slightly yellowish amorphous powder. Odorless, tasteless, hygroscopic, readily soluble in water, insoluble in organic solvents such as ethanol, acetone, ether, etc. Optical rotation: -25° to +35°(c=1, H2O). Infrared spectroscopy determined that there were characteristic absorption peaks at 725cm-1, 852cm-1 and 930cm-1. Chondroitin sulfate A, also known as 4-chondroitin sulfate, is an acidic mucopolysaccharide composed of (1→4)-O-β -D-pyran glucuronic acid and (1→3) -2-N-acetylamino-2-deoxy-4-O-sulfate -β -D-pyran galactose repeating units. It is one of the components of connective tissue matrix and a cofactor of glycoproteins. Chondroitin sulfate A changes with age in organisms. From birth to old age, its content gradually decreases, while chondroitin sulfate C increases. CSA can enhance the activity of lipase, break down triglycerides in chylomicrons into fatty acids, reduce and clarify chylomicrons in the blood, and also has anticoagulant and antithrombotic effects.
