It has a light green tender branch and leaf aroma, slightly with wine, fruit and fat notes. Chemicalbook n-hexanol or its carboxylic acid esters exist in trace amounts in citrus fruits, berries, etc. It is also contained in various essential oils such as tea leaves, various lavender oils, banana, apple, strawberry and violet leaf oil.

Usage
It is specified as an allowed food flavoring in GB2760—96. It is often used in flavor bases and in the preparation of essential oils (such as geranium oil) as part of the top note. It can also be used in small amounts in violet, osmanthus, magnolia, and ylang-ylang type flavors to modify or enhance the fresh and tender aroma. Additionally, it can be used in small amounts in food formulations for coconut, berries, and various fruit-flavored essences.
